I'll try plaiting all my garlics - and I'd have done the onions too if they weren't such a useless size

I planted garlic in October last year and had really disappointing results - very small bulbs indeed. I'd done the same the previous year but had massive bulbs. The difference in success si that I used shop bought garlic this time round to see if that would work. I'm goign back to buying proper bulbs next time round.

I love the pics of the garlic plaits - lovely.

I'm a total garlic convert now - so I definitely recommend planting it Squirrel!

Like you Eskymo, I had very disappointing results last year, from a white garlic, but I think it was because I had to move it after it got going. This year was such a lovely surprise to get bigger bulbs that I could buy in Tesco, and it takes up such a small amount of space in the garden for the great crop that you get. Everyone should be growing garlic - I love it!!

And plaiting it was quite fun too.... I have to admit!

If you push a few cloves of garlic in pots around your spring bulbs it stops the squirrels digging them up & you get the added bonus of growing some garlic as well! I think the smell is supposed to put them off & the same with slugs, seems to work with the squirrel in our garden as it lost interest in the pots after I put garlic in them & started digging everywhere else to hide his nuts instead!

Hmmmm, I wonder if that would work to plant garlic in the pots that the slugs love to scoff? Like my Dahlias, my Peruvian Lily etc.... that would be a big bonus!
