  • nettle and comfrey fertilizers

i have just strained some nettles and comfrey that have been stewing for 3 weeks. i have bottled them up in old plastic milk containers seperately.

what is the ratio when mixing with water to use as fertilizer.

A splash or two. Or a dollop. Some websites will tell you dilute 10:1

I mailed the RHS about nettle feed, after getting very confused about whats in it and who to give it too. Basically they said to dilute to straw colour, and you would have to be really heavy handed to do any damage to anything with it! I also use it as a rooting fluid, works really well.

Good luck, with the stinky feed!

Yesterday I took the lid off my last years Comfrey brew expecting it to really stink but either I've got used to the smell or its mellowed over winter.

I used some of my recent batch 'neat' as an experiment and it hasn't done any harm. Depends on the plant weight / water ratio used to make the brew.
Does it last overwinter?!! I thought it was only good fresh-ish, i.e. a couple of weeks after making it. Comfrey grows so fast at the moment that there's loads around.

Not sure about it overwintering so last years went into the compost bin and I've started a fresh batch.
