  • too late for spuds?

    hi. have a space left in my plot is it too late to stick in a few chitted spuds? thanks

    I hope not! I have loads still to go in - haven't managed to dig enough ground for them so they are going to go in buckets - again! I think the only real risk is the blight but if we spray when the conditions say we should be okay.

      i havent put mine in yet either, thanks to the council taking 8wks to process an allotment application!!.
      i'm hoping the wait is just about over, since i have a complaint in...so dont want to put them in buckets or bags...cos i havent got the room!. they are the first thing i'll do on the lottie...clear some space and fire them in!!.

          They need at least 13 weeks to grow (3 months), so if you get them in now they should be ready in September.

            Special offer in July GYO for seed potatoes, may need to give them some protection depending on when the first frost hits us. Last couple of years there hasn't been a frost till after Xmas.
