Planted mine end of March/beginning of April. I have red baron and white onions, can't remember the type but they are a popular variety. The folliage is still green and the onions look well on the whole.

We pulled up all our onions and shallots yesterday. Here they are sitting in trays in the conservatory.

How long should they be dried out for? Alot of them have 'thick neck' how long will they last?

        Hi WiZeR,
I usually leave mine in the sun for a few days to a week before putting them in a net & hanging up, maybe you could plait your shallots like garlic or onions someone posted a good link to how to braid garlic on another thread. I think onions with 'thick neck' generally last weeks rather than the months they would do normally, if you'd left the leaves on until they shrivelled up & died rather than cutting them off there would be less chance of neck rot. Nice harvest though!

Hi Wiser, my onions with thick neck lasted about two months last year, just make sure they stay really dry.
