went to communal gardening club last night as i cant get a lottie, we made a huge raised bed 25ft by 5ft, planted 5 onion varieties, carrotts, parsnips, kohl rabi, scorenzer, leeks, beetroot sweetcorn corgettes. then today planted onions, carrotts potatoes and beans in my own garden then did all the watering. sold some stuff on ebay, went shopping took little one to school, did packing for weekend away, washing and cooking. now just having what i think is a well deserved cup of tea.

That's a lot of vegetables! I'm guilty too, everyday I'm out in the greenhouse, watering, potting on, pottering about and pretending to know what I'm doing. LOL.
It's great that you've got a communal gardening club, that must be loads of fun!!!
JenniferWhilst typing the above reply, I was probably supposed to be doing homework. My excuse: I'm hooked!

communal gardening sounds great .......
i've been down the greenhouse / veggie patch quite a lot recently, any time the sun shines, and it's all under control and coming along nicely - was potting on in the greenhouse last night while it was raining ...
i've worked out i'm spending an average half hour a day on it all - so much easier with things like weed sheeting - and got loads of fruit and veggies growing .......

at the communal garden we planted 15 varieties of salads including, lollo rossa, swiss chard, spinach, rhubarb chard, land cress and rocket, dug a large patch that was grassed over for sweetcorn and more potatoes and lots of weeding. in my own garden picked the first two strawberries but let the little one eat them so i have to wait to try this years crop but she assured me they where yummy! lots of watering and weeding planted more beans tickeled the toms, harvested the herbs that are on overdrive giving lots away to friends to cook with and tying raspberries up. the communal garden club is great, we all get free seeds to grow in our own garden, you get far more for your very small yearly membership fee than you could buy the seeds of the internet for and plant all kinds of things in the very huge allotment which is like 5-6 large allotments put together then they have a large commercial sized polytunnel. we take in produce the amount of time we put in 1 hour work at the lottie = £1 worth of veg at whole sale price and children get the same rate as an adult me and littleone spend 2 hours last night so thats £20 of produce when its grown we get, as records are kept. this year ive had 5 rhubarb crowns, 45 strawberry plants, 25 seed potatoes and 6 packets of seeds from the club for £8 in membership fees but thats all i can get in the garden due to my fruit plants but i could have had lots more seeds had i the space. its like a small scale farm the club but i think its a benefit to the community.
