  • Why is my potato plants losing its flowers?

    Hi,

Im growing potatoes both in containers and in soil and they all seem to be dropping their flowers before they blossom. The flowers falls of without opening. Its an early variety called Swift.

Anybody have any ideas why this is happening?

No idea at all why the flowers should fall off. However, they don't need to be fertilised or anything for the spuds to form so I wouldn't worry too much.

When did you plant your Swift - you probably have a lovely crop waiting to harvest if they are in flower.

          It's quite normal.

Some potatoes produce flower buds, some buds open, some drop off, some don't form buds at all.

          It won't affect the crop.
