My first day on this wonderfully entertaining site, and I have my first of, no doubt many, queries.
I have built one raised bed already in my garden, which is producing many great vegetables, thanks to my wife's efforts. We do require more beds though to meet our own needs of being as self-sufficient as possible. Any ideas on construction materials for these beds that will not break the bank, and will enable approximately 24"-30" height, and an 8 foot by 4 foot footprint on each bed? Who says that you cannot put your foot in it twice in a row?
My primary bed has been constructed from old railway sleepers that have been sealed with pond liner to prevent tar contamination. This has worked very well to date, but sleepers, ANY sleepers, are expensive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as long as it does not involve the use of an old four-poster.
In anticipation.....
