I've got some PSB in raised beds in my garden, but I didn't realise how much space they need, and everything else is being put in the shade by it. The plants are about 2ft high and look fairly strong. Would they tolerate being moved down to my lottie? I've got a bed ready for planting in, but wasn't sure if PSB is ok being dug up once its kind of established itself?

Hi
I moved 6 brassicas 2 weeks ago and they were fine - admittedly not as big as yours but if you prepare the bed well, and firm in the ground afterwards it should be ok.
I grew brassicas last year about 8 inches apart; as I didn't have alot of room. I used half of them when they were smaller and then pulled those out - leaving the others to grow to full size. Underneath those [broccolli and romanesco] were swedes and cabbages; which once all the bigger plants were done and dusted, continued to grow throughout the autumn, and the swedes through the winter. Maximising space indeed.

Brassicas are fine to be moved, in fact they seem to prefer transplanting. They are large plants - put them 2 foot apart, and firm them in well (trample the soil with your boot)
Remember to net against pigeons and cabbage whites too. And put some French Marigolds in to keep the whitefly down. And put some Limnanthes in to attract aphid predators. You should then get a cropLast edited by Two_Sheds; 14-06-2008, 10:30 PM.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
