Tomatillos

are tomatillos really perennial?? I have several seedlings that are all about 2 inches high with good leaves. Would I have to do anything special to them overwinter to get them to crop the following year??

Also, how many years can I expect them to give me a good crop before i should replace them??

I grew mine as annuals last year, never even thought to try and keep them for this year but they definitely won't take any frost on them as that killed off the plants quite quickly. I sowed seeds last year in about April and got quite a good crop off them in late summer. Am doing the same again this year so fingers crossed the same will happen. Suppose, I think of them as being the same as outdoor tomatoes, seemed to work OK but somebody might have kept them for a second year?????
