    • Stuff from the allotment

Today I brought home new potatoes - Swift & Red Duke of York, don't cook them in the same pan as the Duke of York cooks quicker than the Swift! - lettuce, rocket, spring cabbage, strawberries and some early blackcurrants. We had salad for tea with strawberries after and blackcurrant squash to drink.

        • Saturday was not a hugely successful GYO day - I had some basil leaves in brekkie (tomato and mozarella toastie) and we had some garlic and onion in the seafood risotto (clams, mussels, prawns and a baby squid - will definitely do that again).

But yesterday was a very good day. We had HFW's broad beans on toast for brekkie and the toddler enjoyed hers so much she kept stealing more from my plate! Lunch was a bread roll with some parma ham, cheese, lettuce, baby spinach and coriander leaves (all greenry being our own).

And then dinner was roasted chicken legs covered with the juice of a lemon and sitting on our own rosemary, with our own onions roasted around them. Accompanied by boiled new potatoes. And some baby carrots and baby turnips, each boiled till tender, then added to a bulb of green garlic (halved lengthways), rosemary and thyme, salt and pepper, 5 tablespoons balsamic vinger, 3 tbs orange juice and 2 tbs olive oil before roasting for another 30 mins (an adaptation of a Jamie O recipe). OMG!!!!Delish!! (And I don't eat turnips!).

The plans for this week include a sweet'n'sour tomorrow with brocolli, onion and garlic, and a nasi goreng on wednesday with onion, garlic, brocolli, cabbage, mangetout, carrots, baby courgettes and some broad beans of our own. And my lunchbox saladbox daily.

          • Yesterday I picked a huge bunch of sweet peas, so the dining table looks good! Strawberries for breakfast and strawbs/raspberries for dessert. Salad for lunch. Three courgettes are on their way...

                            • Summer PSB, chard, courgettes, broad beans, strawberries, raspberries and loganberries. Strawberries and raspberries just made it home (most eaten on the way), but does anyone have any recipes for loganberries - they're too sharp to eat raw.
