Whilst typing the above reply, I was probably supposed to be doing homework. My excuse: I'm hooked!

                      • On Firday, my haul included enough new potatoes to feed 4 adults for 2 dinners (and enough leftover to do a small baby spud and chorizo bake tomorrow). I also had 3 small heads of brocolli (eaten gently boiled last night), and about 20 onions for drying, and about 15 raspberries.

Friday's dinner included the new spuds, some brocolli, mangetout, courgettte, onions and garlic in the veg stirfry (also shop courgette, mushrooms and peppers), and a side salad of plain mixed lettuce harvested as the dinner was bring turned off in the kitchen (that DID impress the guests!!). Oh, and the thyme in the chicken was ours too. I also needed some garlic butter for the steak, so made a decent enough batch and put the leftovers in the freezer as the old garlic is starting to fade away.

Sat we had more spuds, more onions and garlic, and the rest was shop bought.
Yesterday, gently boiled brocolli was about the only thing of ours (but also our only veg on the plates).

And we had the raspberries as desert on Friday night (well, with a few strawberries and blueberries from the shop and a dollop of ice-cream on the side).

I also made tonight's curry yesterday, and used the very last of last year's onions in that, with some more garlic (about 7 cloves!!). Now onto fresh onions only (but still have lots of garlic to use up - meant to make "lazy garlic" yesterday, but was too tired and busy to get around to it). However, this curry also had my own veggie stock added, made with the courgette bits and some bay leaves from the garden, brocolli stalks and some fresh onions from the plot and a couple of carrots from the shop.

                          • I dug up my 2nd lot of potatoes (kestrel), a carrot & a parsnip to see how big they were getting (they're tidgy!). My peas are nearly ready too!

It's my first time growing my own so I'm really excited when I dig up my 'treasure'

                            Regards

                              • Yesterday I was picking mangetout peas and accidentally picked one of the pods I had tagged with cotton to show it was one I had cross-pollinated. Whoops! Eating your breeding experiments is not recommended. Still got some left - I shall be more careful next time!
