Yesterday peas, broad beans, baby carrots - all delicious! Grandchildren came over and picked another load of peas and beans to eat raw instead of sweets. Youngest thought the peas were very clever "growing their own packets"
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
Just come back from a weeks hol and harvested
2 Turnips
2 Marrow sized courgettes(were finger sized when I left tasted good all the same)
4 Carrots
2 Beetroots
2 Strawberries
Last night, I harvested a decent handful of mangetout and put it in the fridge so that they won't mature too much and plants will move along with making the rest of them ready to eat by the weekend (I have 10 adults for Sunday lunch, so want lots of mangetout to go with the brocolli and spuds I know I have and the possibility of 2-3 courgettes and 1 summer squash!!).
I also harvested today's lunchbox of mixed lettuce leaves (and couldn't be bothered with anything else with them today - it's raining, a lot, so I am quite likely to wander out for additional sustenance from the local shop!!).
We have had strawberries for pud for the last 3 days, had intended making a jar of jam with them, but they didn't get that far lol.
Picked enough rasps yesterday for tea and 2 jars of jam
Got 4lb of blackcurrants picked ready for jam this morning, then going to pick the rest for freezing until I decide what to do with them!
Last night it was 5 courgettes (zuchinni bread, anyone?!?) and ONE broad bean pod, lol! Dunno what to do with that - may have to wait for its little brothers and sisters. No lettuce today. Too tired to make my own sandwiches. Oops!
