  • Our first cucumbers
(2 of them, we are burping nicely now, and so are the chickens...)

Also, sugarsnap peas, dwarf french beans and some herbs, that I was going to steam and have as a "warm salad" with stilton on top. But I'm too full of cucumber now...
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

    • Work all day today, so not much gardening. However, picked more raspberries and redcurrants from back garden. Some of the raspberries made it to the kitchen!!

        • Today we had little gem lettuce, cherry tomatoes and rocket salad for lunch. Also our own veg with Breton pork chops for supper - french beans, courgettes, broad beans and charlotte potatoes.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.

          • My first message - hi to everyone.
Today we had calabrese, carrots, cauliflower, peas, parsley and first earlies which are now rather large!

                    • Runner and climbing french beans, the last of the broad beans, beetroot, courgettes, potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes and cues from the greenhouse.
Oh and 2 cherries I missed on the tree last week, I ate those in the garden to save arguments!
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
                      Now a little Shrinking Violet.

                      • FIRST OF THE FRENCH AND RUNNER BEANS!!! Also more courgettes, Summer PSB - that's done really well will grow again next year. Last (I think) of the broad beans, saving the rest for seed. Swiss chard, raspberries and lettuce. Spuds ready, but I don't need to dig till tomorrow as I have enough in the kitchen.

                        • 5Kg of Yukon Gold spuds - dug up the entire row as the tops were looking a bit diseased & sorry but the spuds are great looking. Not a massive harvest from 17 seeds potatoes and seemed to only get 2-3 per plant but they were a really good size.

Also 21 garlic bulbs as they had all flopped over (finally), they are HUGE too!

                          Oh - and 2 courgettes!
                          Jane,
                          keen but (slightly less) clueless

                          • I harvested my first ever courgette yesterday! Never grown them before - the plant didn't look very well (and still doesn't compared to some others on the site) so I'm so pleased that it is producing. Some more on the way!

                              • A sample helping of broad beans Witkiem Manita - they are finally ready so the PYO sign goes up tomorrow, a sample helping of Pea Kelvedon Wonder - would take too long to pick a reasonable amount so will wait a week before I put up their PYO sign.
