    • This weeks harvest!

Hi Guys, sorry not posted for a while, struggling to keep up with work and all the harvesting!

      This week's harvesting includes.........

12lb of toms (mainly processed into tomato and courgette soup/pasta sauce and frozen) Lots more to come!
gazillions of courgettes (note to self, dont need 3 plants each of 4 varieties of courgette next year! 15lb made into soup and frozen, still about 10lb to eat or process!)
10lb runner beans (processed and frozen) lots more to come!
5lb mange tout (processed and frozen) lots more to come!
5lb french beans (processed and frozen) lots more to come!
5lb broad beans (processed and frozen) lots more to come!
40lb spring sown onions from set
      4lb pickling onions
5lb peas (processed and frozen) lots more to come!
couple of green peppers, lots more to come!
      1 1/2lb broccolli (eaten!)
      2 cabbages
      1 cauli
      about 200000 parsnip seeds!
1lb carrots lots more to come!
4 cucumbers lots more to come!
8lb cooking apples lots more to come!
      First Turnip!

And the one that made Mr D smile more than anything else, the first mushroom from the kit we bought last month! Big enough to feed 2 of us, and as you can see, Mr D was really impressed! (when he first saw it there was a cry from upstairs, I wondered what had happened!)

        • Poor show here compared to lots of you, got a good quantity of purple-podded mangetout (they have been really good this year) a few pods of Alderman (waiting the next lot to start producing - in flower now) 4 pods of broad beans (must sow more next year) one turnip and a half-dozen Golden Wonder tatties. Also got four climbing beans - loads of flowers but the weather keeps blowing them to bits I think and we aren't getting much crop. I have had one courgette this year - don't think I will bother with them again.

              • Courgettes, PSB, french and runner beans. Also lifted the onions for drying/storing. Turbo and Sturon - both have done really well - huge bulbs. Should really take some photos and put on the veg show.

                      • 6 artichokes (globe type, imperial star) all tasteless and horrible. won't bother with them again.

3 cherry tomatoes - no idea of variety but really tasty.

a massive pile of perpetual spinach - now in my tummy

                        1 white beetroot

a bowlful of beans for the freezer.

                        ohhhhh 4 courgettes.

                            • This week I've harvested broad beans, courgettes (who hasn't?!?), French beans, LOTS of Parsley, LOTS of lemon balm, plus some Duke of Yorks.

I used all of that little lot on the biggest salmon pie-type thing, using a topping of potato daupinoise. YUMMMMM!!!

                              • Today i harvested the last of the Beetroot, runner beans, sprouting broccoli and a first harvest of the Kale!!
I didn't expect to be harvesting my Kale until November at the earliest as was only sown 8 weeks ago but it was quite clearly ready for me to take a first cropping off the leaves, so i wont let them go to waste.

Have got them with chicken pie tonight.
