      • I picked a dozen nice yellow Inferno chilli peppers (grown well on lotty) from seeds sent by RustyLady. The Cayenne aren't too far behind ... just starting to redden (the ones in back garden ripened a few weeks ago)

Also had a nice lettuce from last month's sowing

                • Cleared all the apples of our 2 Worcester Permain trees, then made apples sauce/juiced the less than perfect ones.

                  • I found a few autumn rasps on the plot yesterday, which made a nice snack as I ambled!!

I harvested a decent bag of borlotti beans (now in freezer), a smallish bag of broad beans (ditto), a single serving of peas (had with dinner last night - first peas me and OH got for dinner this year!), and the first 2 tiny ears of corn (I stripped one and cooked with peas for OH and I - the toddler will get the other today). And enough calabrese shoots for another couple of portions of soup later in the week (this is from the plants I was pulling up in July - and they are not finished yet!!!!).

Last night, we had the corn and peas cooked in some butter, served with properly fried onions, some mushrooms (from shop) with cream and garlic, homemade chips (from shop spuds) and a proper fried steak. Delish - especially with some lovely fruity Belgian beers. (And followed with a quality control check on the raspberry vodka - sooo glad I started another batch yesterday).

I had a couple of tomatoes and a red onion in a pasta salad over the weekend. And we made baby leeks with cheese sauce (wrapped in proscuitto ham) from the Doorley's book on Saturday night with some roasted salmon - which was really tasty.

There isn't much of our own produce in dinners this week. I have found a couple of tiny lettuces that will feed me for 2-3 lunches, along with some more toms. There's onion and garlic in tonight's chilli (made fresh yesterday), and tomorrow night's curry (from freezer). Pork chops on Wednesday - quite possibly involving garlic, onion, brussels sprouts, brocolli, french beans, courgette and our only pepper. Or maybe not - depending on my mood and time available. And I'll probably make a batch of quickie brocolli soup for a lunch one day for OH and I.

                      • What a feast Winged One! made my mouth water that did!

Trousers went to the lottie the other day and harvested the swede and cabbage he wanted for Sunday Roast, and we went back again then to harvest another huge crop of Borlotti Beans and cute little Butternut Squashes, purple kurly kicking kale and more swede.
HELP! I'm drowning in Borlotti Beans!! (thankfully as I sowed enough of the bu@@ers to achieve that this year!)
Oh, and I've harvested all but one of the marrows (courgettes that got dead big actually) and some carrots.
And a Cucumber, and Runner Beans.
                        Which was nice....

                        • Have not been down to the veg patch for well over a week as been busy doing other "outdoor tasks" so ventured down there today and picked...
                          2 courgette/marrows,
                          3 normal sized courgettes,
                          20million lbs of runner beans,
                          a handful of fench beans,
all the ripe corn cobs as the ends were starting to get nibbled by mice (little bu@@ers!)
                          and in the greenhouse...
                          good handful of Cherry Tomatoes
                          several ordinary Tomatoes.

                          Not bad at all!
                          Jane,

                            • Harvested the last o the runner beans today before taking down the canes an tidying the debris for winter. They have been the most astounding success and my freezer is stuffed to the seams with them.
Good ol scarlet emperor beans with there lovely ol fashioned bean taste. I will stash a bag for our yule feast just to remind me that the darkness will give and the light will return to my garden.
Harvested some perpetual spinach too. That will go into tonight's mash potato with chicken pie and gravy.

                              Yummy!!
