I'm truely gutted. I bought some organic fertiliser granules for chillis in the sale section at Wilkinsons the other week and this week I decided to apply and water my chilli plants.

Only I think I overwatered them as now 3 are dead, another 5 look like they'e going to follow suit leaving me with one tiny plant.

They were going so well too.

And I grew them from seed since January.

Does anyone know where you can buy chilli plants from?

can you not dig them up and put them into some dryer compost before they die, maybe a bit of drying out will sort it??

Assuming that your chillies were sown in Jan then I'm guessing that they're a pretty good size now (mine are fruiting now and pretty big) so they should be able to withstand a fair bit abuse and shouldn't die just as a result of over watering. I presume that they are now in either large pots or the soil. Are you sure that there isn't something the matter with the fertilizer or a possibility that the concentration was too strong?

Sounds a bit strange Rockhag. Chillies shouldn't die from one overwatering. What was in that fertiliser and was the dose right - but I think it waould have to be massively wrong to kill the plants. Did you follow the directions ?
Of the ones left alive you could try having them out of the compost and replant in fresh compost. It's worth a try. If you poured the solution over their leaves you could try washing them with fresh water.
If all else fails you might me able to some plants at the garden centre.
Hope it works out - you must be really upset.

I'm selling chilli plants but a bit far for sunderland.....ask over on the chilli forums site....they may be able to help plus post a picture of the affected plants someone might be able to suggest what has happened.....Good Luck,,,,

I'll try repotting the compost tomorrow and hope for the best. I hope it salvages them. I am actually upset as they're the one thing I've reeeeaaallllyyyy wanted to grow and then this has happened.

Sounds very odd- check the roots- empty out the pots (in the shade) look for vine weavels! they look like maggots! hateful things!!! destroy or give to birds any that are found.

Sorry to hear about your plants. I bought some of the fertilizer too. Was it some random brand at about 5 pence a box?

I bought some and put it on my plants - they seem to be doing OK. How long did it take to 'kill' the plants?

It was an organic chilli fetilister that was reduced in Wilkinsons and it's taken about a week to kill them. :|
