  • best birthday prezzie ever

OH has just ordered me a compost bin for my birthday ...... isn't he just the greatest i'm also putting in subtle hints for a water butt, and some baby ladybirds. i just found some 330l bins on the council site for £20 including delivery ...... bargain

Yes many councils do cheap composting bins, and a great service they are to. Mine doesn't due mainly to the fact that they do a collection of garden waste and kitchen waste as part of the weekly collections which I think is also great. Any recycling is brilliant no matter how it is done or who benifits.

ours do recycling too, of garden waste, paper, glass, and plastic, but i'm not letting them have it my garden needs it, and up to now i've had a heap in the corner

good thing is he's decided i need it now, cos it's not my bday till august

i found a 100l water butt too for £25 with a stand and drain diverter in argos ..... most of them you have to get the butt and the other bits separate ...... so i may have persuaded him that will be a good buy

He really is a sweetie Lynda to let you have your pressie now - and I bet you get another one come August.
I used to buy my husband pressies of that kind - much to the disgust of the children.

Lynda - I'm exactly the same!! Two years ago I would have given anything for a new pair of high heeled boots, today I'd rather have the composter too. Are we growing up at last do you think??

ooooooooo now thats a good plan .... you mean after son has tapped me for a new pc and a new mobile contract so he can ring me when he goes off to uni in september, oh yeah and a freezer for his room, and new pans and plates and cutlery, and all the other things he just HAS to have ..... so he can keep all the frozen meals i'm gonna make him in and cook them ....... think i might have to get 3 allotments and a market stall at this rate lol.......... wouldn't mind, but you'd think he was going to the other end of the country ...... he'll only be a 15 min train ride from home bless him.

*wonders if you can get stiletto wellies*
