    They're ever so pale looking, is this normal or is my soil lacking some vital nutrient?

      Sorry,Although poor nutrition is a possibility it more probably means they are rotting. Are they looking wilted with shrivelled tips too? possibly mildew

      were they growing well before? Is the land badly drained?

      Dig one up inspect roots, then cut in half and smell. Report findings and we'll have another go.
