I'm so excited! I was just having a little pootle round the garden, picking the broad beans and strawberries that were ready tucked here and there among the flowers, when I noticed that my Early Purple Wight garlic were all yellow and bent over. Oh no! I thought - then remembered that they're actually supposed to do that when they're ready. Heart pounding excitedly (yes I know - I'm obviously very sad ) I dug one up. I've grown garlic, for the first time ever! I've now dug them all up and plaited them together and hung them for everyone to admire in the kitchen. I'm so thrilled! Although, come to think of it, perhaps I've been a bit over enthusiastic plaiting them within minutes of digging them up? Am I supposed to wait for them to dry a bit before I do that?
I'm now waiting with baited breath for my other varieties of garlic to start looking ill and keeling over Now if only that was a good sign with tomato plants ....
