Must admit, as the first ones, they would not have got to half that size with me. I always start harvesting when I think the effort was worth the reward. I am hoping for a cue next week and it will be about the size of a small courgette, but there is plenty to follow.
My grandad always told me to take the first cucumber off the plant as soon as possible to get the best harvest, he reckoned it put more energy into fruiting once the first one was removed. Works for me
I saw on one of your responses that you were making soup for the farmers market?
Can I ask what you use to store the soup for sale? I make soup and freeze it for our use, but I've been thinking of trying my luck at work (lots of guys living on their own!)
so would appreciate any hints and tips!
