  • Elephant garlic bulblets & rounds

I just harvested my elephant garlic and it looks lovely with huge cloves.
There were tiny bulblets (korms) too which can be planted to produce cloved bulbs 2 yrs later (before planting they need to be soaked & scored)
-But it didnt say about storage and when to plant them. Do I just keep them dry until October?

Also when you get solo bulbs or 'rounds' which havent split into cloves, they can be replanted for cloves the next year, but again, When a round is harvested do you cut off most of the leaves and trim the roots and just keep dry until Oct, or plant whole thing again right away?

I assume its the same with the normal cloves too, just keep them dry (& not refrigerated) until october when they can be planted?

I usually keep the rounds for replanting, keep them dry and remove the roots and leaves when they are dry. The little bulbils last year were shoved in a pot, with soil, left outside and forgotton about and they seem to fine.
Wasn't sure how long it would take them to bulk up so thanks for the info!

        Hi
Thanks for that link - it says the bulblets can be planted straight away without having to wait until autumn.
They'll turn into a round the first year then the second year they'll give cloves.
        Replanting mine tommorrow!
