A question about little gems

Hi everyone
i am currently growing some little gem lettuce and i was wondering what to do after they have growm and you have harvested the leaves.

do you leave the roots in the ground? will they grow again into another lettuce? or do you pull up the whole thing and start again?

sorry if this sounds like a really silly question, i've never done this before so all help appreciated

Pull them up and add them to your compost heap. Then you are getting something back.

That's why you need to successional sow so that the next batch will be ready when you are throwing these ones out.

If you keep using the outer leaves, they will just keep growing but get more bitter as they do.
