Like the online idea though - one additional benefit of that is that I won't be tempted to buy other stuff whilst wandering round the shop...
It is that thing by which we luddites save the planet by using one lot of fuel to take dosens of crotchetty old dears like me to the shops!

Ah, I just thought they were big cars! D'oh. I only ever see them tearing round the country lanes with 2-3 people on them - including the chauffeur.

ok i went everywhere, and no straight canes at all ..... even in wilkies, but i did get 3 bent ones, which will do the job i want them for, though i still need long ones ....... guess i'll just have to keep checking

i might get sons friend to run me to B&Q or the garden centre tomorrow, and see if they have any

You will probably find the Garden Centres will charge for the canes by the foot. I saw them in a Centre near Cheltenham recently, and that was the basis of their pricing. I know it worked out a bit more expensive than Wilkos, but if you need them - you need them!!

i reckon if i can't get any, b & q do some thin piping that's fairly cheap, and when i've finished with it, i'll be able to use it to run the wire to my pond

it's currently hang myself height out of the utility room window, to the shed and diagonally to the pond lol i've bought a special outside socket thing so it won't go to waste, but i'll keep looking i'll find some eventually and as long as its only 2p a foot that will be fine

wouldn't mind, but i have some giant bamboo growing, that can reach up to 50 foot, unfortunately at the moment they are about 3 inches

Instore are getting them in all the time albeit a little bit hit and miss. They told my OH that it all depends on what's on the lorry but as they get deliveries daily, you may have to go a few times before you get what you want.

                        The 4 foot canes are 20 for 1.99 and 6 foot 10 for 1.99
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

i tried instore today as well, not a one lol .... we haven't got a morrisons nearby, and i've been searching freecycle, mind you i've an advert on there for a shed and a greenhouse already, don't want to overdo it lol we haven't got anything as exciting as an allotment shop

why is it so bloody complicated trying to buy a few sticks?

mind you i did find some 3ft willow wigwams in the pound shop today ...... for a pound

so i'll be back in town for some of them tomorrow
