  • Patty Pan squash - Need recommendation

    Hello Folks,

Have found out yesterday that my mom really likes baby Patty Pan squashes, both fried and pickled; apparently you cannot buy them at "baby" size here, so I've decided to give it a go and grow some for my mom.

Can anyone recommend any particular variety? I really want to grow the best to surprize my mom.

    Thanks in advance,

    norazina

I assume they are those flat round courgette/summer squash.

I grow a variety from France.
'Courge, patison blanc' seeds called Germinance and company Demeter I think...Semences biodynamiques F49150 St. Martin d'Arce.

    try and google them maybe

Lidl do a variety called Sunburst (I think it is?). But here's several varieties from Nickys Seeds, they're summer squash -

Butternut Squash, Spaghetti, Summer and Winter Squash

They like a slightly longer, warmer growing season than courgettes and seem more susceptible to damp weather. We had great success with a variety called 'striped custard marrow' - edit cos I misremembered the name. Bought from the HDRA as was.

Thank you too, smallblueplanet, I shall get on with ordering what both you and Paulotie has recommended. We do have a long growing season here, so I still should be able to get a crop.
