    Hi Stacey

I've never heard of it. I googled it and found a book, a lamp, and a tool that turns onions into pretty flowers when you come to cut them up.

I wouldn't worry about it. Onions take ages - you can eat them when they are little as spring onions and leave the rest to grow to get bigger ones for cooking.

If you do ever find out what an onion kit is, you will post it won't you!

    Ta ta for now.

Is an onion kit not just the same as a tomato kit or a pelargonium kit etc

I've seen these in the shops where you get a bit of compost in a bag, a packet of seeds and a little mini propagator to grow them in. All in a nice bonny box!

They normally cost about ten times as much as the total cost of the individual components!

They didn't mean onion sets did they? These are small, heat-treated onions that you plant in spring (although there are some you can plant in autumn too) and they swell up into the full sized onions. Ive grown these for years - in fact this is the first time I've grown them from seed. I have some sets and some from seeds. The sets are definitely less fiddly.
