Ive been away to beautiful cornwall for 9 nights and left my sister in charge of my garden, okay so a few plants didnt look like they had been watered enough but my lovingly grown sub artics ( the very first plants i have ever grown) which were under one of those growbag green house things had been battered and the green house which housed them was in pieces and all over my garden, my poor plants have all been bent at the base but not snapped im hoping they will recover but can i re-pot these and take them out of the grow bags, they do have flowers on but no toms yet, im concerned that they grow bags wont support them now they have been damaged, any advice????

How awful for you!
Tomatoes are resiliant tho so they should be salvagable, just lots of TLC. They can grow roots from their stems so you could replant them a little deeper (above the bends) and stake them and they should be ok, lots of water and cross your fingers.
Good luck

Oh dear - poor you.
It has been very windy over the last few days! I looked at those grobag house things on the internet but all the reviewers said they were flimsy and blew to pieces at the first sign of wind - looks like they were right.
Hope you can salvage the plants.Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

I got a 5 tier one, where I put it is where we keep our plastic and garden waste recycling bins on the wall of my dads garage (it gets loads of sun) and for stability i have sandwiched it between the two. Also its really handy because any waste materials can be plonked into the green bin for recycling.
Also how big is your growhouse? If its a bigger one try putting a heavy pot on the lower shelf, e.g Im growing potatoes in a very large pot filled with compost and it's really heavy, so I put that on the lower shelf.
With both of these my growhouse can't blow side to side or backwards (because of the garage wall) and it will be hard pushed to blow forward because of the hugh pot on the bottom shelf and the other teraccota pots I keep inside. Also keeping the zip shut protects the frame from breakage

Hi
If you have any deep pots, pop them in those and use the growbag contents to fill them.
OR
Take the toms out of the grow bags, cut the grow bag in half and upend it. Tape up the original holes you made, or seal them with a plastic bag taped over the holes. Then plant as deep as you can in the upended growbag. You can plant toms right up to the leaves near the first truss of flowers.

Thanks Guys, im sooo glad i can fix this.
I thought i had weighed my growhouse down enough with house bricks and it tied to my garage and i also it against my garage wall but sadly mother nature had other ideas, but i shall live ( as will my tomatoes) to fight another day!!

I'd get your sister a punch bag if she gets such bad PMT !
Oooopss- sorry!!
I've half given up on our mini greenhouse after ours flew around the garden full of seedtrays and seedlings.
We weigh it down with heavy pots now but tend to grow on our windowsills instead.
Very upsetting for you....I'm sorry.
At least you can rescue your plants!!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
