I planted out my Amandine spuds on 4th March. Thet are supposed to be early earlies (90 days) but have still not flowered! I have been taking some decent sized ones anyway for the last week or two but there are still loads of tiny spuds growing underneath. I need the space for my leeks - which are starting to look quite cross, which is why I chose a very early variety. I also have Agate, which will be ready soon, and Roseval.
Some of the leaves are starting to look rather yellow and the plants are looking weaker - is this because I am harvesting some or are they just not going to flower? I thought I had read somewhere that Amandine don't flower much but I can't remember where I read it!!
    Has anyone any advice??

I don't know about your particular variety, but if you're getting a decent harvest and they're starting to turn yellow, I'd say they're ready. It might be that these particular ones don't flower much, but try looking to see if there are any flower stems, minus buds or flowers, as this happened to us last year. We don't know who the true culprits were, but we're blaming pigeons for stripping all the flowers and leaving us waiting for a harvest that was already well past ready. As for the really tiny ones, you do usually get a few, I suspect these are the ones you tend to miss and which then grow in the middle of a different crop next year.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Some don't flower much anyway. Some flower but they drop off. I'd be interested in a pm from anyone who has got potato berries set on their plants. My spuds - all 6 varieties - are earlies and second earlies so maybe they set better on maincrop? Anyway, if you leave the berry on until you harvest I'd happily pay postage and packing to have one through the post.

Why?? Are you thinking of growing you're own seed potatoes? I usually get quite a few of them on main crop but I've never tried to do anything with them.

          Hi
Our main crop are starting to flower; if you want me to leave a few flowers on I'll happily send you them later in the year.

Yes, I'm intending to try to grow on a few 'true seeds' - which means you get unique varieties. Seed potatoes give you clones. Just fancied a go!
