  • yummy yummy in my tummy :D

    Hi everyone!

Today at exactly 4.56pm, Friday 27th June I had my first decent sized lettuce leaf. AND a spring onion! dum Dum DUM!!!

It was sooooo nice, the lettuce was from a little gem and the sping onions are called White Lisbons.

    Hurrah!

On my sandwiches today I had some lettuce picked this morning when I made them. I think the people at work are getting sick of me saying, 'this was growing only 5 hours ago...'. My care-o-meter is reading negative though!

Loool lucky you! It's so rewarding to put something fresh in your mouth.
We had the first potatoes the other day. Yum!
I'm one of the unlucky ones, who normally can't taste if they are really new, and therefore don't caremuch for potatoes. But theese were excellent!

We have had our first courgettes, winter grown spring onions and best of all our beautiful beautiful brocolli grown in tyres on waste ground on our service road out the back of our garden. I shared it with my friend who lucky for her has an allottment and I was so chuffed when she said she'd never seen a better looking brocci home grown.

Better still, the kids loved em too.

It is so rewarding I love it. Just have to think of interesting ways to cook all my lovely courgettes and brocs that are mass producing.
I'm new to veggies, but trying !

            Hi Stacey

            I do like your avatar.

Now, tell me - how can i get my boyfriend's little girl, who is 11 - to eat veg?

            Any ideas?

She does love broccoli, and will begrudgingly carrots - but peans/beans/lettuce are a no-go area. Onions - absolutely never.

If you have any good ideas that I can use to persuade her, then do let me know.

Tried that last year; she wouldn't even eat the purple carrots she grew herself!!!

                    try honey wraps...

                    ingrediants : chicken pieces
                    1 capsicum pepper
                    1 red onion
                    teaspoon of wholegrain mustard
                    tablespoon of clear honey
                    sour cream
                    tortilla wraps

Place onion, pepper, chicken in wok (wait till cooked)
                    Add honey and mustard
                    spoon sour cream onto wraps
                    put chicken mix on tortilla
                    wrap up and EAT

                    mmmmmmm, OMG its delicious
Its sweet and you dont taste the onion, you just get a sweet taste

They sound really good Stacey - if I could get her to cook anything it would be a miracle; she gets bored after a nanosecond - and gets 'tired arms' after about 2 minutes just mixing yorkshire puddings/pancake mix!!!

I'll keep an eye on the fussy eaters thread and print it out for when she next comes round.
