On the lawn put down some plastic sheeting and the leatherjackets come up to the surface and you can brush them up and dispose of them. I suppose most softbills would eat them - we are lucky to have enough starlings who come and dig them up. I don't know how one would deal with them when they attack potatoes.

i'm going to try that tomorrow, we have 2 blackbirds who will probably eat them, the strange thing is, we get loads of birds at the back but, but i never see any birds in the front ........ i guess that could be the reason why they are only in the front ....... but tomorrow ...... it is all out WAR
i have loads of potatoes out the back, so if they eat these, it's not too tragic, they are only in there cos they sprouted and i want to get the lawn up at some point, and i thought they'd help kill the rest of the grass.
