Coriander going to seed

We grew some coriander (ordinary and lemon) thats now gone to seed. Is it okay to 1) save the seed or will it have crossed? 2) eat the seed?

The lemon coriander was very nice, coriander with a 'tang' of citrus flavour.

Hi SBP, it depends how close they were if they crossed, but I can't see why you couldn't use the seed for cooking (I assume thats what you meant by eating)

You could try sowing some but it may not be true but there again it may be better than what you've got already.

You've nowt to loose & everything to gain.

While I was away on holiday my Coriander went to seed, dried out then died. I picked the dried seeds off last night before throwing the plant in the bin. Do you think I can save these seeds for next year and grow some more. Can I grow some more now because I hate having to pay for it at the supermarket.

SF why not try planting a few they might grow, there's nothing wrong with them as coriander seeds, I just wondered about the 2 different types we had grown crossing.
