darn them there Mice and Ants

Has anyone got any tips on discouraging mice??
I know there isn't a lot to be done about the ants but I have had to pull up four potato plants today two damaged by ants and two damaged by mice. I did at least get some spuds though.

I have two but i'm not sure they will let me tie them to a post in the allotment up the road I think they like it here too much.

Ants!

My Uncle Jim was a keen gardener; this is his method for dealing with ants

Stroll gently around the garden on a hot sunny day, idly filling your pipe whilst identifying the ants nests, and their entrance holes

Pour about half a pint of petrol onto the nest

Light your pipe, then drop the match....

It was on another thread that semolina laid down for the ants disposes of them.
