  • Yellow Pumpkin Leaves

I planted out an Atlantic Pumpkin plant a couple of weeks ago and it seemed quite happy with itself, but this week I have noticed that the larger bottom leaves turned a limey green colour and are now pretty yellow. They're not at all droopy or eaten just very yellow.

The first flower has rotten off too although there are loads of buds left still to flower. What do I need to do to save my solitary pumpkin - I have great hopes for it.

Mines the same! What we both need is a heatwave for these tropical plants to start growing methinks!

Ooh Snadger, so you think it's the weather? My squash have come to a standstill since I put them outside a few weeks ago. I'm right up north and beginning to think that summer isn't going to happen up here. My strawbs are as green as grass.

I'm sure it's the weather. I planted mine out and they went all yellow and sulked, but now we've had some sun, they're a better colour. If you've got it, some seaweed foliar feed might alsoo help them perk up.

It's very warm and sunny today, hopefully this will give them all a boost. I hate sulky gourds!!

Yellowing can be a sign of inadequate food or too much moisture - overwatering can flush the nutrients away.

Just the shock of planting - change of soil etc - will also do this.

Fingers' crossed might be the best advice

Keep taking off the small pumpkins till you know you have male and female flowers out. I have removed about the first 3/4 but now have both flowers so it's full steam ahead now.

With the male / female flowers - is the difference that the female ones have a small fruit behind them (like courgettes and cukes etc do)? If so then we've lots of male flowers but no female ones at all as none of them have baby fruits behind!
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Is this going to be a similar answer with courgettes? Mine were as healthy as anything, big green leaves & bearing fruit. We then had 2 or 3 days of constant rain & now the leaves are yellow the flowers look very unhealthy & there has been no further growth. I did suspect the weather...........is there anything I can do to perk them up?
