How dwarf should dwarf beans be?

My dwarf french beans are only about 8 inchs high but they've started flowering....
is this too wierd, or does any one think they'll carry on growing and be ok?
Or are they a possible new supper dwarf tolouse le'Trec bean?

any thoughts welcome.

I've got Tomatoes! ( more like litle green peas on a tomatoe plant, but...)

What variety are they?
My Purple Teepee and Golden Teepee, and Tendergreen are all about that high and flowering.
I also have Mr Brooks Blue, described as a dwarf ~ but it is currently 2 foot high and climbing for the stars.

My dwarf beans (speedy) flowered while they were still really short, I think they were a bit taller than 8" though, more like a foot? They have grown a bit taller since then, and we have beans on them, but they are still not much taller than a foot or so. I sort of assumed this was normal lol

My other dwarf beans (delinel, and another I can't remember what it is) aren't in flower yet.

Nothing wrong - just keep picking so they keep growing and flowering. Foliar feed occassionallly to give them a boost

No problem with 8in dwarf beans, some do grow a bit bigger. It tends to be one of the reasons why a lot of people don't bother with them. When it rains you tend to get soil splashed onto the beans and the beans are also closer to the slugs.

I just measured my Golden Teepee (in full flower) and they are about four inches high!

So if I want the french bean (filet type) but want taller plants - what varieties should I go for? I'm loving the filet beans (just eaten a bunch for dinner) but I don't feel I'm getting much value for the space they take up, not when I look at the 6 foot high runners growing next to them anyway!

It is so ood to know that what i've got is normal (as opposed to bigger than normal as i'm used to hearing)
my doubts came from visiting my inlaws in france last year and seeing 2foot high plants giving beans away to anyone...
Still abit confused as i know that west cumbria is the new med'!.... it'll all come out in the wash.
i also harvested my vey first beetroot two days ago, and it was everso tasty.
(and shirlthegirls turbo scrumpy is a great great hreat woops spealing cider to blame success.)
