  • Squash: when to harvest

I'm growing a few varieties on my plot this year, including harlequin, butternut and acorn squash. I got them in quite early, planting out at the end of May (early for me!) and now have what appear to be one mature Harlequin and a few acorn squashes. I am wondering if I should harvest these now to give more food etc to the younger ones, or if I should leave them until september as I would normally.

    Thanks in advance

I think it would be better to leave them, and maybe control the amout of new fruit by removing them before they start developing and this will allow your other fruit to ripen and reach a decent size

Best left, may well grow huge, he says hopefully.
