what is the best method of constructing a wigwam as mine keeps on falling apart.

i saw some things in wilkinsons the other day, they were round flat things with holes, that you put the canes through and holds them together in a wigwam shape, they weren't expensive

Push your poles into the ground in a circular pattern and bring the tops together and lash with large amounts of string. Seems to work with mine anyway, although I am using hazel poles so might make them stick together better as they're not so smooth lots of knobbly bits.

Find a Red Indian and get them to stand inside, holding up your Wigwam for the summer months!!

I have experimented over the years with different styles, and number of canes. This is the total winner for strength and stability.
4 canes, placed about 12-18" apart each way. Lash together with natural twine (polyprop just shreds and snaps). If you can't tie knots, tie lots!

Do mine the same as Davidjp, but i do mine in tubs. The bamboo cane i use is pulled together at the top and bound with string. At the bottom i do 2 loops around the outside of the tub with string and tie. Then individually tie each cane to the loop around the tub with string.

I always used to use string to tie my bean poles together, but the last few years have used insulating tape and nearly all the people on the lottie do the same. May not be environmentally friendly but does the job in our wind swept environment.

I use green garden wire, you can twist it so it holds the canes firmly together.
