Aubergines - no fruit yet!

Is it too soon? Lots of flowers which I keep trying to pollinate (the plant is in a pot in the greenhouse), but no sign of any fruit setting. Plant itself looks v. healthy .....

I've got one outside, only one flower but no fruit... It's a weakling!

No fruits on mine either despite the plants lookinig absolutley fab! Getting more flowers now so fingers crossed for something. The peppers next to them are doing fab so not all bad news.

I've had a couple of small 'early long purple 2' ones and a small calliope. There's a rosa bianca thats eatable size and a de barbentane just developing, oh and another egg-sized calliope. They are planted in the g/h borders though.

I know what you mean Sweetcorn. My aubs (3 plants) are just covered in flowers but they just keep throwing them away. The peppers beside them are covered in fruit. This is the last year I'm trying aubs. Even the melons are doing better.Last chance saloon for aubs here.

I've got two plants with one fruit (so far) on each - traditional fat purple aubergines, variety "Bonica". First time with this particular type, and so far I am impressed.

The fruit are swelling well and about four inches in length. There are more fruit setting now.

My plants aren't big and are rather pale but that doesn't seem to bother the fruit!

Don't normally get the first fruit off Aubergines until August - end of July at the earliest - so there is time yet!

Your plants look about the same as mine although have had one pepper way ahead of all the others.

I read somewhere that you should only have 5-6 fruits on each plant. So I have removed loads of flowers. Still not fruit through, but I am sure they are on their way.

I should wait until you have 5 or 6 fruits forming nicely, and then remove any fruits that set after that.

No fruit on mine yet, plenty of flowers and strong looking plants. Still even if I only get one aubergine it will be better then previous attempts. Fingers crossed.

I've never understood this - we've grown 'normal' purple aubergines, long purple, long green, small green, small purple, striped purple, etc and we've just picked them as needed/when they're big enough to eat and let the plant get on with....most of them are edible at any size, so you could pick them to encourage more fruit, depending on the size you want?

You've certainly got the knack with aubs SBP. Can you put a spell on mine.

Tried in my greenhouse for many years to grow Aubs but never any success. This years went on the compost heap a week or so ago.
They never seem to get going, I suspect white fly or some pest.
