just been looking at my potato crop and have noticed some tomato looking things where the flowers have been. anyone know what they are? sorry if this is a stupid question but i really am a complete novice

Sounds like seed pods to me. Look at the thread "Fruit after my potato flower" a bit earlier and you can read up on it all. Looks like Flummery might be wanting the seeds off you ...

Whatever you do do not let the kids pick them i have heard in the dim and distant past that they are poisonous .
If you want to spend a few years you can grow them but it take's years to find a good new type of potato Variety that is any good so beware they are nasty's jacob marley

there is another thread on here somewhere talking about the dangers of the potato fruit! apparently if you can leave them alone until they reach golf ball size then pick them and leave on a windowsill to go black, you can harvest the seeds and try growing pots from seed next year, or even get them in the ground late september for xmas spuds
