  • *does a happy little dance*

i've just been out in the garden, and and i got my first potato plant it's all bushy and has loads of leaves and stuff, and its poking it's head about 4 inches above the ground

its probably the biggest plant in the veggy bed at the moment, and it wasn't there yesterday ...... i'm all excited, that i might actually get something i can eat off it, i planted some shooting spuds from the cupboard, so no idea what variety ........ but i don't care ....... *goes off with a torch* for another look, and to make sure no slugs get it

i'm gonna be sooooooo gutted if it's some kind of mutant weed

oh we haven't got to that stage yet, they've made their own little mound though and the leaves are about 2" out .. its weird how quick it's come up, all my other veg have been about an inch tall for the last month.

Congrats! Yes they do grow quite a bit once they get going. Hope you get quite a few more with all the recent downpours.

They take ages to come up, but once they've appeared they grow like mad! As in, you'll be earthing them up and then before you can turn round they'll be 6 inches above ground again!! Fantastic - well done you

Well how many have you got there today - are you sure your pets aren't unearthing them to make you feel good??

You shouldn't have the pets under nets - you will have the RSPCA knocking at your door.

if they get under the nets, they'll be dead pets
