I completely fleeced my brassica bed as soon as I planted/sowed it. It seems to be stopping caterpillers and pigeons, sadly it doesn't foil the slugs though! However, pulled back the fleece yesterday for a sneaky peek - and I've actually got an actual cauliflower head - I'm amazed, I don't have much success with brassicas normally.

I HAD all my summer brocolli and winter brussels sprout and early PSB under netting until Saturday. OH reckoned that the pumpkins needed it more (obviously didn't spot the spare net beside the spinach) and moved it as "they don't need it anymore!". (He went up to weed the onions, and harvest spuds and brocolli for yesterday).

I am hoping that they will be ok until I get a half hour to go up there this week myself - as the pigeons really are active on our site!! If it stays fine, I'll be there at lunchtime today......
