I've grown green zebra toms for as long as I can remember (well, about 12 years anyway!) I also grow yellow, orange and sometimes black.
I have scarlet kale (only this is a total misnomer, maroon kale would be better), purple sprouts, purple podded peas, purple, yellow and mottled french beans - oh, and red cabbage. And black kale. Life's too black and white NOT to grow coloured veg!
DOH, just realised, I voted that I would give them a try next year for the first time, then after reading everyone else's posts it has dawned that dwarf beans are not normally purple or yellow and neither are peas normally purple podded I grew coloured veg for the first time last year then. Tried rainbow carrots but only got orange ones to harvest size! This year have yellow and purple dwarf beans and purple podded mange tout.
It is indeed good for you to eat different colours: aim for a rainbow on your plate, and you will get the full spectrum of natural antioxidants and goodness that you need.
have grown orange and yellow cherry tomatoes for the last 4 years, tried some purple beans but only got 1!
this year i am growing black russian tomatoes which are a very dark red.
