Has everyone harvested their's yet? Was just curious as to what you thought of the taste / yield?

Not harvested ours yet, but we were late planting them out. Might try the ones that we put in a container first. Be interested to know what others thought of them.

I had some tonight, with some lady crystl to compare. The yield from each root was similar, but I preferred the taste of lady crystl. Vales emerald seemed a bit floury too, although the spuds were smaller than lady crystl.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

lifted all ours because the slugs/snails had stripped the tops completely. Yields wern't spectacular but I guess it's hard to produce spuds with no leaves to feed them. They seemed fairly solid to me and I didn't find them floury. Nice flavour

I wasn't too impressed with the flavour to be honest, found them a bit tasteless although the yield was ok. My parents who also grew them thought the same.

Just 'dug' the two spuds planted in a large recycling box in mid-March. Like SMS6's the tops had been half stripped by snails/slugs. Underwhelmed by the quantity - about 14 small/medium sized spuds, the box wasn't 'full' like last years attempt.

Will update on their taste later on....

As salad spuds they taste pretty ordinary, they're far too floury and break up easily as well.

Will mash the next lot that were planted in the garden.

I haven't dug mine up yet, but it sounds to me that they are gonna make superb roasters. Just a thought.
