That's the bunny! Cinnabar moth. I can always picture these things and often can't recall the names - sign of old age I'm afraid!

Trust me, it's ragwort. I can spot it a mile away and have spent far too many summers hunting the stuff out. Most rosettes start with less frilly leaves, which become more 'raglike' as they get older. In their second year, they look like the stuff you see on verges.
Aw, Lynda, moths are ok. The cinnabar caterpillar is quite cute, too. Stripy little critter, like a wasp without the nasty bits!

*shudders* i can handle them if they stay outside, but when they get in the house especially the big ones wearing DM's wearing leather jackets and riding a harley ..... you know the ones with pointy teeth and tattoos? theres nothing i can do other than to get the leccy fly squatter out and let the cat eat them ....... i don't like killing things, but i could never sleep again if there was one in the house still alive
