The back of a seed packet will tell you how much room each plant needs. Obviously things like radishes need very little room, and a sprawling great pumpkin needs about 4 footAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Well the smallest space you could use would be from one flower pot onwards. All depends what you would like to grow.
You can container grow many things including small fruit trees. One of the biggest problems with small gardens of course is how much light does it get during the day.I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

Most soil is good enough to grow something - you'll get a crop. You might get a bigger, better one with better soil but just look around - any spare ground is rapidly colonised by plants. Plants want to grow - we just have to help them a bit!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
