carrot problem?

I have noticed that some of the foliage of my carrots has a pink tinge. The carrots are growing fine and look ok. Does this pink tinge mean anything as I have never seen it before and cant find anything wrong with the carrots

It could mean carrot fly.

I agree with Capsid, usually a sign of carrot fly! Pull a few and you'll sharp tell!

Well I never knew that!~I just thought it was part of the natural process(although with my carrots carrot fly tends to be part of the natural proccess also!!)

They can take on various colours as they age without carrot fly being present, but it is worth checking.

I have a little "purpleness" on some of mine but they are perfectly healthy - I am pulling them regularly.

If the whole row has taken on the same colours then it is more likely to be the growing conditions but if you have a healthy row with the odd bit of discolouration it is more likely to be the carrot root fly.

you lot are lucky to have some to go at lol(i did have 2 x 20 ft rows,that was until the hot weather and badgers ,even covered up with scaffold netting the little xxxxx draged it up the path and had a dig and a munch,about 2 thirds were devastated,so yesterday,i dug up the rest,they are now in the freezer,they also keep having a go at the sweet corn and spudz{i know that it's their favourit grub,worst luck}and they have a sett not to far away,so i spent the whole afternoon constructing a strong wooden frame 11x10 aprox,with nails top and bottom to hang the scaffold netting on as well as the top to keep the pigeons out,i got home 7:30 pm,if they got in last night then nothing more i can do,not able to get down yet today,
