my beets have been a great success, can i grow them over winter or when is the latest i can sow?

Beets tolerate a light frost. The variety I have takes 60 days. Maybe something like boltardy would be appropriate for the "warmer" weather. HTHs

Beetroot like most root veg can be left in the ground through the winter. They will need some protection like straw or fleece and you will have to watch out for slugs and snails. Or they can be lifted and stored in a frost free shed or garage in sand or peat.

This is the first time I've grown beetroot, pulled a few today and pickled them (Boltardy), though I think I could have left them to get a little bigger - took a lot of little uns to fill the jar. Would like to grow some more, what's the best size to pick them at for pickling? Golf all size, larger?
