  • Pak Choi after onions?

Hopefully my onions will fatten up soon and I'll have a bed free. Can I put Pak Choi in after onions and if so, should I add anything to the soil in the way of feeding?

Yes you can And I'd sprinkle some chicken manure pellets over the bed & rake them in.

Now that we're past the longest day your onions (and all the rest of the family) will grow rapidly. And yes, you can put your Pak Choi there. They're not greedy feeders but it will do no harm to sprinkle a general purpose fertiliser there while tidying up the space.

Thanks Sarz and Alice. My Pak Choi bolted last month, planted it too early, good to know that my onions should start to plump up a little, not too impressive thus far

Amanda, you can eat your onions any size you like. You don't have to wait for them to get big or store them. You can pull them small and use the whole thing like spring onions in salad. I grow red onions and use the whole thing while I'm waiting (and waiting) for the spring onions.
          Hope that helps.

Amanda, Pak Choi planted early ddoes well . It's the bit in the middle that's rubbish.
The Pak Choi I planted mid March (Mei Quing Choi, Contong White) I was eating all through May.
Maybe you could keep a notebook for yourself of what to plant when. I do.
