Hi, there are many ways that you can use seaweed.
Add it to the bottom of your compost heap
    Or
You can ut it in a hesian sack and put in a large tub of water and that way it makes liquid feed

I thought that you needed to wash the salt off the seaweed first.

Lesley, you can wash it off but it doesn't matter really (we don't)
        You could wash it anyway!

Seaweed is one of the best feeds avalible in my opinion and it is in most shop bought feeds.
Ideal for tomatoes and peppers though (liquid form)

If it's fresh the salts not a massive problem LJ, it's if it's collected from above the high-water mark & has been lying in the salt laden air.

                      Seaweed to compost

I use tons of it and know only that it's better to wash it out or let it lay through a few rain showers before composting. Worms hate salt.

Sorry if this contradicts anyone .. just thought worth a mention ... Mr and Mrs Worm being my friends.
