  • music to make veg grow

i just wrote a post about seeds, and it got me thinking, is it just me or does everyone talk to their veg?? anyway i was thinking, if talking to them helps, do they prefer different types of music? cos i have a waterproof stereo, and was thinking it might be nice to play them some music ....... do they like rock or punk? or should i go for something more sedate like opera or something? (is really really hoping veg like something very loud)

i seem to be doing ok with my tomatoes and water melons, they are growing really well. my peppers don't seem to be doing as well, perhaps they don't like meatloaf. might try mcfly instead lol!

Opera ? Sedate ? All that falsetto shrieking and wobbling and fat men grunting
You don't want to kill everything !

I'd go for a wide selection, including : Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, 3 Foot High And Rising, Whispering Grass, Harvest All Over The World, heavy Roots music, Sowing The Seeds Of Love, The Lightening Seeds, Smashing Pumpkins, Dexy's Midnight Runners, JJ Kale (?), Raspberry Beret, Strawberry Fields, Green Onions, but not a hoe in sight ; )

Peas Release Me, Let Me Go....(goes off humming madly)

the mythbusters did an experiment a while back and found that hard rock was the best for good growth... although they did kill half their plants by forgetting to water them!

Excellent choice of music - my polytunnel rocks to all the above as well as QOTSA and Red Hot Chilli Peppers ( and more recently, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers!!)
If I'm feeling nostalgic, theN they get a blast of Motorhead,Sabbath or AC/DC.
As for me, when I have miles of handweeding to do, my MP3 player is compulsory, featuring all of the above, some dance, some celtic rock, and some Rat Pack stuff.

I talk to mine Lynda. And I play them music - any kind, depending on how I feel . But if things get desperate a big blast of WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS usually does it.
