Hmm no, I'm more calming towards mine. I'm often singing away to myself when I'm alone and unfortunately my plants therefore cop it too. They usually get the likes of a bit of Tracy Chapman or India Arie from me

right, i'm going to conduct an expi expo ex.... test to see which they like best ..... there are 2 bits of garden i can play at (neighbours are gonna love me) front and back, i'll put calming music at the back, and anything much louder and more cool at the front ..... and see which ones do best have just moved some plants from the back garden to the front, so it will be a fair test.

Not sure about Smashing Pumpkins- might frighten 'em

Yes, I talk to mine too, and praise them for producing particularly good veg. And I apologize if I accidentally tear a leaf. You don't need to worry unless they start talking back! (especially the tubers- they're such boring conversationalists, they really need to get out more)

Having been a pro. musician back in the 70's I remember guys used to put eggs in the vents from the bass speaker cabinets. By the end of the gig they were cold hard boiled. Something to do with the frequencies causing the protein to coagulate. I'm sure I remember reading about some Canadian scientists doing experiments and finding classical music was best for plant growth. Doesn't Prince Charles play music to his plants?

crap i was really hoping not to have to play classical ...... well i can avoid the back garden i guess, and so they'll die without being watered, and the loud music will win by default?

well, today i moved some tomato plants ..... i'm not hoping for much, cos they are very small, but for fairness of the test, i planted them in a patch and treated them exactly the same as the ones in the front garden, i shall take photos tomorrow, so you can judge for yourselves.

anyway, the ones in the back garden had the radio tuned to classic FM four hours and the front garden ones had green day, billy idol, & stiff little fingers for 4 hours tomorrow i shall go through my cd collection, and pick out something suitable
