My tomatoes all have the black rot ...blighted......have lost all my Romas and am managing to limp on with the Marmandes and Cherries but have lost half of the other variety whose name escapes me ................i think its because my garden is like a sunken garden its in a dip with the house on one side and the railway embankment on the other - stays damp and doesnt have much air movement ...am going to grow them on top of the embankment in little raised beds next year and hope that SNCF doesnt come along and tell me to move them (Its a disused railway but there are rumours its to be converted into a cycle track)
then with some more air movement and growing them further apart they might not stay damp .......what does anything think?

It's got to be worth a try! Also, if you could construct some kind of shelter, so that the rain doesn't fall directly onto the plants that might help? Just a 'roof' of plastic is supposed to make a difference.

i grow gardners delight and tigerella every year in the greenhouse and follow the same watering and feed patterns every year and always get different results!! I have added a vent at ground level this year but as yet i have not put any shading up, the night time temperatures and the variating daily temps are causing the problems so it might not be the full cause but if mine are anything to go by, its certainly a factor....just hope they come good and our british summer arrives...
        I'll be SLACK!!!

I'm here for a good time, not a long time
